White House Goes Forward with
Faith-Based Initiatives

Are you ready for the new initiatives?

 

The White House is going public with next steps in the long anticipated Faith-Based Initiative.  Meeting in October 2002 in Atlanta, representatives from the office of The Secretary of Health and Human Services and other Federal agencies will report on potential new sources of funding for faith-based initiatives.

Hosted by First Baptist Community Development Corporation

 

Join Deputy Director, Martin Dannenfelser of US Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families for an update on the implications of new faith-based initiatives for organizations in New Jersey. 

 

The event will begin at 2:00 pm on October 10, at New Brunswick Plating, 1010 Jersey Avenue, New Brunswick.

 

Following Mr. Dannenfelser’s presentation, join the Reverend Dr. DeForest B. Soaries Jr., Chairman of First Baptist Community Development Corporation for a “Faith in Action” tour of the Renaissance Community between New Brunswick and Franklin Township, New Jersey. The tour will include a 3:00 p.m. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Harvest of Hope Learning Center for Children at 123 How Lane in New Brunswick, with New Jersey Local Initiatives Corporation (LISC) and New Millennium Bank. 

 

Other stops on the “Faith in Action” tour will include the Hampton Club Condominium Development, the Family Resource Center, the Renaissance Education – Technology Academy, with the Nation’s first Faith-Based Cisco Academy, Fleet Bank Youth Entrepreneur Program and “The Underground” the First Baptist CDC Youth Center.

New Jersey business & corporate leaders will meet at the New Brunswick Hyatt on Albany Street to honor three corporate leaders for their support of neighborhood initiatives.  Joe Wilson of Integrated Packaging, Jack Dolan and Sons & Chris Paladino of DEVCO will be recognized at the 8 AM Breakfast event
