Family Resource Center (FRC). FRC serves over 600
family partners, annually, providing assistance with
housing, employment training, counseling and enrichment
opportunities for youth. The following testimonials
are from partners and supporters who comment
on the impact our programs have had on their lives…
Before STRIVE [Support and Training Result in
Valuable Employees] I was unemployed and had been so
for some time. I had attended college for a short period
then dropped out—basically I was just sitting around
waiting. My mother heard of the program through a
friend and strongly urged me to contact FBCDC to find
how I could register; she was sick of me doing nothing
with my life. So I figured that I would give it a try. And
I signed up for the program. What an experience! The
training course was very structured, no exceptions to the
rules, it fostered the type of discipline I needed to make
it
out there. The role-playing, the teamwork environment,
the constant atmosphere of professionalism, writing my
resume, going through mock interviews, everything culminated
into my eventual formation and got me ready to take
on the world. — B.M.
“FBCDC has taken a statewide
leadership role in
identifying families affected by the growing foreclosure
epidemic. They have put together numerous programs for
the community residents and businesses in order to proactively
address this issue through education, counseling
and financial assistance. Additional communities are now
following their example and instituting similar programs.
The CDC leadership and staff are to be commended for
their commitment to our community."
