About The Program

Logging Onto Technology is a ten-week technology program being offered through the collaborative efforts of NCADD of Middlesex County, Inc., The First Baptist Community Development Corporation (FBCDC) and Spheres, LLC. This innovative project is funded through a grant from the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services.

The program takes place at the FBCDC Renaissance Youth Center and is designed to teach basic Internet skills to young men between the ages of fourteen and seventeen years old.

This project encourages young men to learn about technology and how it can affect their future. Learning Internet skills can increase their ability to find jobs and provide them with additional career opportunities.

The Lessons

Topics covered in the course are:

  • Sending and receiving email
  • Basic understanding of browsers
  • Search engines and finding information on the web
  • How to narrow the parameters of a search
  • How computers communicate with other computers
  • How to design a basic web page

Who is Eligible

Any African American, Asian, Latino, or Hispanic male between the ages for 14 and 17 years old that either resides in New Brunswick, Franklin Township or is affiliated with the Renaissance Community. Participants must be committed to learning.
